Introduction
Bala Thailam is an Ayurvedic oil used to cure the vata diseases. It is used in the treatment of various problems like vomiting, cough, cold, asthma, wound, emaciation etc. This thailam balances Vata doshas in body. The oil can be used both internally and externally.
Ingredients
Bala - Sida cordifolia - 4.8 kg
Chinnaruha - Tinospora cordifolia - 1.2 kg
Rasna - Pluchea lanceolata - 600 g
Water for decoction - 12. 0 liters, boiled and reduced to 3.072 liters
Mastu - Supernatant liquid of curds - 3.072 liters
Ikshurasa - Sugarcane - Saccharum officinarum - 3.072 liters
Shukta - Fermented gruel - 3.072 liters
Taila - Oil of Sesamum indicum - 3.072 liters
Ajaksheera - Goat milk - 1.536 liters
Paste made from 48 g of fine powders of each of:-

Daru - Cedrus deodara
Ela - Cardamom - Elettaria cardamomum

Effects on tridosha: It balances vata dosha in body.
Method of Preparation
All ingredients are added to til oil and goat milk and oil is prepared by oil paak method.
How to Use?
Internally it is given in dose of 3-6 ml, once or twice a day, before food, with warm water or warm milk, or as directed by Ayurvedic doctor. You can also use externally for nasya, snehavasti and shirovasti.
